I have been working on a new body of collaged drawings using dollar bills and other currency. I love the intricate detail already present on the surface of the notes, and my purpose has been to fragment and re-shuffle this, bringing to attention something we see every day but rarely notice, and reordering the words and phrases to recreate my own sentences.

The first in this body of work was the Ha’Dollar series, (available to buy here), which comes in parts one and two. Made using half a dollar per piece. (To get both halves of the dollar make an order for two and the matching pieces will be sent to you.)
Other themes of the work are, of course, value, currency, and worth: It’s a ‘re-mixed’ and fragmented dollar so is it’s monetary value now rendered worthless? But it has gained value by being turned into an artwork.
You can see ‘Ha’dollar’ in ArtHAUS on Vyner Street, (opening next Thursday 3 May), and new pieces at The Other Art Fair, 10-13 May (free tickets here) The original pieces of work were involved in ‘What Price Art‘ in Cultivate Gallery, Vyner Street.
